IMED is developing an innovative educational programme that trains professionals and researchers in the use of molecular imaging in the development of new medicines and diagnostic techniques. By combining knowledge with advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and image analysis, IMED contributes to the faster, more efficient and more successful development of innovative treatments. The programme brings together research institutions and companies to share expertise, develop talent and strengthen the healthcare system of the future.
“There is simply no structured education in molecular imaging to support drug development,” says internist-oncologist Derk Jan de Groot of the UMCG. With the new IMED (IMaging EDucation) project, UMCG, together with project partners Hanze and the LIFE Cooperative, aims to change that. The project, recently awarded within PharmaNL’s Human Capital Growth programme and made possible through funding from ZonMw, will develop modular education for professionals in hospitals, pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical industry.
